class2careers.com is an on-line opportunity exchange among employers, teachers and students for school-work opportunities offered to secondary school students. The site was developed as part of the Ministry of Education Passport to Prosperity initiative through a partnership between The Learning Partnership and workopolis.com. class2careers.com is powered by workopolis.com.

class2careers.com provides students and teachers with access to opportunities which support learning about careers. Employers and their staffs benefit by connecting with their local schools and future employees. While sharing their expertise, employers and staff members develop new skills and often get assistance with workplace tasks.

WHAT SCHOOL-TO-WORK OPPORTUNITIES WILL I FIND IN class2careers.com?

You will find the following opportunities, all provided by employers in the Greater Toronto Area, in class2careers.com: career talks, industry tours, job shadowing, work experience, mentoring, cooperative education placements, job fairs and apprenticeships. These opportunities support career education curricula at the secondary level.

IS class2careers.com EASY TO USE?

Yes! Everyone can browse and search the site and send opportunities to one another by e-mail; however, only teachers may book opportunities. Teachers must register on-line, then select opportunities and e-mail employers with their reservation requests. They can e-mail opportunities to students and parents as well as forward students’ r้sum้s to employers, when required. There are also personalized tools for teachers, such as 'CareerAlert'.

HOW HAVE TEACHERS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT OF class2careers.com?

As members of the Passport to Prosperity Steering Committee, teachers identified the need to provide a variety of types of career exploration activities and links to educational institutions and industry associations, for example. A sub-committee of teachers is assessing class2careers.com during the pilot phase. The Learning Partnership welcomes all input.
