Click on the links provided on this page to learn more about many examples of successful employer-school partnerships such as in-house Co-op programs at Bank of Montreal and Ontario Power Generation. In each of these programs, a Co-op teacher runs a Co-op program for 20 – 25 students based on-site at the employer’s premises. Innovative initiatives by School Boards in the Greater Toronto area are linking high school students entering the workforce to local employers such as the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board/Peel District School Board’s annual “Mission Employable conference,” Durham District School Board’s “Getting to Work Day” and York Region’s Fast Track to the Workplace organized by York Region and York Catholic District School Boards. All these events are aimed at students leaving school and planning to go straight into the workforce and The Learning Partnership’s Passport to Prosperity program is an active partner. Each year, the events offer workshops for students and bring together students and local employers.

The Career Studies Pilot program took place during the spring of 2004 and involved bringing in Career speakers and offering workplace tours for over 200 students in three Dufferin-Peel CDSB secondary schools.
